Why San Diego is the BEST City in California

San Diego is the best city in California because of its culture. Between the “slow pace” way of life and “take it easy” attitude, I’m convinced it’s the best city by far in California.

I wanted to create this video to show both the city life, and “north county” life in San Diego. City life is more fast paced but still has a great groove to it. While life in the north county is slow, quiet and peaceful. In this blog I’m going to list my favorite things to do in both the city and north county. This is a great guide for anyone looking for recommendations while visiting, or to answer any questions to my crazy claim.

Fun Things to do in San Diego (the City)

  • Take the train down from any coastal city and arrive in Santa Fe station

  • Lunch at Ketch Grill right on San Diego Harbor

You can see the USS midway from here and other large Naval ships. San Diego is known for its strong Naval presence and there’s lots to do around it, in its own.

Anyways, this spot for lunch is beautiful, you can see all the sailboats passing and enjoy lunch & a beverage.

  • Little Italy San Diego

This is a quiet and modern area that still has its “old feel” to it. Tons of restaurants that offer Italian food, wine along with Italian bakeries, with Farmers Markets on Saturdays.

  • Hotel Del Coronado

A great staple when you’re in the city, it’s a short drive across the bridge that connects “Coronado Island” and the city. Coronado Island has a fantastic feel to it, it’s got more of a laid back surf vibe going. Stop by the Del Coronado hotel to do loads of activities like restaurants, drinks, tour the hotel, shopping, go to the beach, rollerblading or ice skating (depending on the season). You can’t go wrong with visiting. It’s beautiful and completely open to the public

North County:

Craving the laid back, chill surf vibe?

North County is a judgement free place. Home of some of the most beautiful beaches, restaurants and people. You have to visit.

  • Grab a smoothie at Choice Superfood Bar and Juicery in Carlsbad Village

  • Take a walk down the Carlsbad Beach

  • Check out Sunset Cliffs in Carlsbad

  • Drive down Highway 101 through all the surf towns (Leucadia, Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach, Del Mar, etc.

Each area has a downtown full of shopping, restaurants, breweries, etc.

  • Go to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and Hike

You can either hike the entire thing that’s about 3 miles (2 hours) or you can just take a nice stroll through it. Free entrance by foot. Take in the views and beautiful ocean. You might even see a Great white Shark from the top so keep lookout.

  • Brigantine Seafood and Oyster Bar in Del Mar

Great Seafood with a beautiful view

  • Del Mar Dog Beach for Sunset

If you’re not a dog person go to Seascape Sur Beach in Solana beach instead.

  • Any beach for sunset

You actually can’t go wrong with any beach for sunset

I can name places for hours on this blog. But I prefer filming videos instead of writing. This is more of an occasional thing while video comes first. Check out my San Diego Vlog Here and COMMENT what else you want to know, or if you need recommendations. I betcha I’ll respond. Unless our channel is massive one day, that might be harder to respond but I’ll do my best.

Stay healthy and happy y’all
